ounty trout plants are weekly, and DFW rainbows went in this week and two weeks ago. Mojave Narrows Regional Park will host the final event in the four trout derby series at San Bernardino County Park lakes. This final event will be Saturday, April 1st, and over $1,000 in cash and other prizes will be given away for the top 25 trout caught. There is a $20 per angler entry. The adult event will be followed by the final 2017 Trout Derby for Kids (7 to 15 years old) on April 15. Over $1,000 prizes will be given away for the top 25 trout caught by the kids. The first county plant of the season went in Thursday this week. DFW trout plants this week and three weeks ago. The park was closed Thursday and Friday as a precaution after the terrorist shooting in San Bernaridno. The park may be closed for the weekend, too. Details were not set at press time. The catfish action has been fair on nightcrawlers and chicken liver, and a few trout were caught in Horseshoe Lake after the DFW plant last week. County catfish plants are alternating weeks this year through Sept. 3. The most recent plant was Thursday this week (July 2). For lake information: 760-245-2226.
