The fishing on the Iowa Great Lakes has continued to be very active over the past couple of weeks. For more information throughout the week, contact the Spirit Lake Fish Hatchery at 712-336-1840.

East Okoboji Lake: Fish are active right now with many people leaving the lake with full buckets. 

Yellow Bass - Good: The Yellow Bass activity has started to slow up on the north end of the lake. Try fishing with live baits under bobbers.

Yellow Perch - Fair: The Yellow perch are being active on the north end of the lake. Try fishing with live bait off of the public docks.

Walleye - Good: The Walleye have been very active. For best results fish shallow rock piles with live bait.

West Okoboji Lake : The fishing has continued to be very good over the past week.

Pike - Good: Nice northern's are being caught right now

Walleye - Good: Anglers are having a high success rate fishing for walleye on West lake. Fish using live bait such as minnows and leaches.

East Okoboji Lake     Northwest     The forecast is calling for some warm weather in the upcoming week. This will cause areas of open water to become bigger as well as seems along the edge of the lake to begin to open up so be careful when going out onto the ice.      East Okoboji Lake     Northwest     Black Crappie - Fair: A decent number of Crappie have been getting caught on the south basin.  

     East Okoboji Lake     Northwest     The Yellow Bass bite has been very good recently on East Okoboji with many people leaving the lake with smiles and full buckets of fish. If you do go out on East lake be careful especially around the pressure cracks. Also, remember that Walleye season has closed up until Walleye weekend on May 6th and 7th.     

     East Okoboji Lake     Northwest     Yellow Bass - Excellent: A large number of Yellow Bass are being caught on the south basin of the lake.

Black Crappie - Good: Concentrate on wooden docks casting small jig lures tipped with bait will produce good numbers of fish.Yellow Bass - Good: Good action early morning and evening hours, fish bridge sites and public docks on the north end for the best action. Fish are also being caught on the south end of the lake, look for rock piles in 15 - 20 feet of water for the best action.Yellow Perch - Good: Reports of good numbers of fish being caught off public docks on the north end, cast mini jigs tipped with wigglers and swim the bait slowly back to the dock.Bluegill - Good: Fish are being caught on the south end of the lake in 15 feet of water. Rock piles close to aquatic plants will produce the best action.
