www.laylakefishingguides.com Bass guide Joey V. is reporting a good bite over the past week or so. With the rain over the past week, the bites picked up some. Nice largemouth are being caught in the early morning and late evening when there running water. Striper guide Jeremy Veitch reports that numbers are good and size is about average. Jeremy says the bite is best in the late afternoon. Live bait has been the top producer.

Below a quick breakdown from our guides on crappie, bass, striped bass & catfish on Lay Lake, Alabama. Striper and crappie guide Jeremy Veitch says the striped bass bite is hot, high numbers of stripers being boated. As for the crappie, Jeremy says it's a little slow, but it will be picking back up around mid to late September. Coosa River bass guide Joey Nania reports, while most people don't won't to fish in the hot weather, he's been putting together 16-20 lb. bags all summer long. Deep water structure fishing with crankbaits and finess lures.  Our catfish guide reports that the bites on fire and the time to come is now.
