Our most recent trips on Lake Havasu were very disappointing.  I know this lake is better than it gave us!

Using the whole gammit of spring/pre-spawn lures.  Shallow/deep/mid range.....a few small bucks: LM and Sm

One 3.5lb SM my partner caught on a spinnerbait.  I caught a couple of 14 inch SM on a Ned rig, and a couple

on a drop shot.  Fished the Windsor Basin and went as far South as Pilot Rock.  Did too much casting for the

number of fish we caught.  Like fishing in an empty bathtub.  Maybe we suck, but in past years we did very well.

LAKE HAVASU: The striper bite has been fair to good with the best action early in the morning for anglers trolling or casting topwater or shallow-running shad-like lures in the main basin from the river entrance south to Whipple Bay. Bait anglers fishing anchovies have had success from the sandbar to Blankenship Bend. The catfish bite is good on cut mackerel for the channel and live bluegill for the flatheads at night in shallow coves where there is deep-water access. The largemouth bass bite is very good early and late in the day on topwater frog and baitfish imitations, but the bite is tough the rest of the day. Some smallmouth showing on topwater in rocky areas, but most are showing in deeper water on deep-running cranks or crawdad-like plastics.

LAKE HAVASU: The striped bass bite has been fair to good with most of the fish in the upper end of the lake and hitting topwater most mornings and then hanging in 30 to 50 feet during the day and taking cut baits. Most of the fish are three to six pounds with some up into double digits. The smallmouth and largemouth bass are fair with some topwater (frogs) and crankbait action early and late. The bite is tough during the day. The bluegill and redear are fair to good with lots of fish on beds. Two-plus pounders common. Catfish have finally come alive with good action in most coves on cut baits.
