Trout were planted in all six sections of the Kern this week and three weeks ago, and all sections are scheduled to get fish again next week. The bite has been slow to fair with high flows both above and below the lake. The lower Kern is still nearly unfishable through the canyon with Isabella release flows at 4,500 cfs. The upper river flows are up to 3,800 cfs at Kernville. A few bass are being caught right in Bakersfield where the river is running through town. Tough fishing conditions everywhere. There has been very light fishing pressure because of high flows. The lower Kern is unfishable through the canyon with flows over 4,000 cfs below Isabella and over 5,000 cfs into Bakersfield. The upper river flows are in the 4,500 cfs range at Kernville this week, nearly double last week’s flow due to increasing runoff. Only a few wild and holdover fish being caught in the upper river. A few bass are being caught right in Bakersfield where the river is running through town. Tough fishing conditions everywhere.
