There have been DFW trout plants two and four weeks ago. The trout bite had been slow with a few on PowerBait and small trout jigs and lures. The plant also brought up a few bigger stripers and they are showing on the trout-like swim baits. Most of the stripers are 1-8 to three pounds and showing in the Fish Arm, but boils are getting fewer. Still good action on shad pattern reaction baits in the mornings. The largemouth and smallmouth bass action is fair with most of the action on plastics in 20 to 40 feet of water. Light fishing pressure and only a few other reports of catfish in deeper water on cut baits or nightcrawlers. No panfish reports. For information call 661-775-6232 or www.CastaicLake.com.

The second DFW trout plant of the season went in this week. This follows the plant made two weeks ago, and it appears that Castaic will be on an every-two-weeks schedule. The trout bite had been slow until the plant this week. The plant also brought up a few bigger stripers and they are showing on the trout-like swim baits. Most of the stripers are 1-8 to three pounds and showing in the Fish Arm, but boils are few and fair between. Most of the stripers on cut baits or smaller swim baits. The bait bite for stripers is very slow. The largemouth and smallmouth bass action is fair to good with most of the action on plastics in 15 to 30 feet of water. Light fishing pressure and only a few other reports of catfish in deeper water on cut baits or nightcrawlers. No panfish reports. For information call 661-775-6232 or www.CastaicLake.com.

The first DFW trout plant of the season was slated for this week. There continue to be some pretty good striper boils most mornings, but they have been diminishing. While there are a lot of dinks in the bite, many of the keeper stripers are from four to eight pounds and some bigger. Topwater, cranks, and other reaction baits that resemble shad are the best bet in the boils, but the trout plant could change that picture. The bait bite for stripers is very slow. The largemouth bass action is fair. Most of the action is on plastics in 15 to 30 feet of water, but also some fish on reaction baits. Light fishing pressure and only a few other reports of catfish in deeper water on cut baits or nightcrawlers. No panfish reports. For information call 661-775-6232 or www.CastaicLake.com.
