The largemouth and smallmouth bass are starting to move up for the spawn and there is a pretty fair pre-spawn bite right now on plastics in 10 to 25 feet of water with some fish already shallower. The stripers are fair on cutbaits, blood or lug worms, jigging spoons, and ice jigs in 30 to 60 feet of water. Most are two-pound class fish. There is also a pretty good bait bite on cut baits and lugworms in the same depths. DFW trout plants this week and two weeks ago. No other reports. The lake is currently 92 percent of capacity. Overall slow fishing. The rising water levels have slowed the bite again this week. The best bite, and it is tough, has been for stripers for anglers fishing jigging spoons and ice jigs in 40 to 70 feet of water. Most are two-pound class fish. Some bigger stripers show after DFW trout plant on the big swimbaits, and the DFW plant went in two weeks ago. The largemouth and smallmouth bass action is slow to fair with most of the action on plastics, spoons, and ice jigs in 20 to 40 feet of water. No other reports with very light fishing pressure. The lake is currently 93 percent of capacity. For information call the marina at 661-775-6232 (www.CastaicLake.com) or Tackle Express at 661-251-8700.
