The water level continues to come up and is approaching full pool. There has been pretty good striper boils some days, but it has been about a 50-50 shot and seeing them most mornings this past week. Most of the fish are from four to six pounds now with some bigger fish to 12 pounds. Topwater, cranks, and other reaction baits that resemble shad are the best bet in the boils. Top spots have been the buoy line and Necktie Canyon. Some fish on sardines and lug worms after the morning topwater ends around 10 a.m. The largemouth bass action is fair to good on topwater early and then plastics in 15 to 25 feet of water. Light fishing pressure and no reports of catfish or panfish this past week. Prior to this week, a few catfish had been showing on cut baits or nightcrawlers in six to 25 feet of water, and the bluegill bite had been pretty good around structure in most coves on wax worms and meal worms. Other species are slow. For information call 661-775-6232 or www.CastaicLake.com.

This past week has been an average week at Castaic with striper fishing being hit or miss. On average, about half of anglers that show up in the mornings have luck landing fish. Top water spooks, Kastmasters and Flukes are the preferred baits being used right now. Hot spots include Necktie Canyon and the buoy line. Recommended fishing time is between 6:45am  and  9:00 am. Largemouth bass have been hitting on Senkos and Nightcrawlers by Hawks Nest and trout point.

The water level continues to come up and is approaching full pool. There has been pretty good striper boils most days. Lots of stripers from four to six pounds now with some bigger fish to 12 pounds. Topwater, cranks, and other reaction baits that resemble shad are the best bet in the boils, but fishing sardines and lug worms at the buoy line and around Kong Island is also fair to good again. The largemouth bass action is fair to good on topwater early and then plastics in 15 to 25 feet of water. A few catfish are showing on cut baits or nightcrawlers in six to 25 feet of water, and some nice stringers are starting to be posted with more anglers targeting these fish. The bluegill bite is good around structure in most coves on wax worms and meal worms. Other species are slow. For information call 661-775-6232 or www.CastaicLake.com.
