The striper action has continued to be pretty fair with the fish showing on spoons and ice jigs in 40 to 60 feet of water. Trolling umbrella rigs, small swimbaits, or flies is also productive. Overall, lots of two-pound class fish with a few bigger fish showing on big, trout-like swimbaits. The largemouth and smallmouth bass action is fair with most of the action on plastics, spoons, and ice jigs in 20 to 40 feet of water. Light fishing pressure and only a few other reports of catfish in deeper water on cut baits or nightcrawlers. DFW trout plant this week at the main launch ramp and two weeks ago. No reports of anglers getting many of these fish. No panfish reports. For information call the marina at 661-775-6232 (www.CastaicLake.com) or Tackle Express at 661-251-8700.

There have been DFW trout plants three and five weeks ago. The trout bite had been very slow, but a few bigger stripers continue to show on the trout-like swim baits. The best striper action is in 40 to 60 feet of water on spoons and ice jigs. The largemouth and smallmouth bass action is fair with most of the action on plastics, spoons, and ice jigs in 20 to 40 feet of water. Light fishing pressure and only a few other reports of catfish in deeper water on cut baits or nightcrawlers. No panfish reports. For information call 661-775-6232 or www.CastaicLake.com.
